Some shots of the first stage preparation works for the construction of six new stabling sidings for Melbourne Suburban trains at Cranbourne station.
29th Dec 2007The last resting place of 202 D
Some pictures of the last resting place of Tait 202D. 202D is a driving trailer, more info on this type of carriage can be found here: http://www.pjv101.net/cd/pages/c057m.htm

The location is behind the former Vulcan factory, on the corner of Bayswater Road and Mountain Highway, Bayswater, Victoria.

It's about 500m from D3 666, which is plinthed in Bayswater park. Unlike D3 666, however, it's on private land and not easily accessible.

Strangely, it's in relatively good condition, although the driver's cab has been stripped, some electrics do remain. It's also minus it's bogies.

Kananook, part 2: The demolition.
10th Feb 2007Kananook - last day before rebuilding
Some shots in and around Kananook Railway Station, the day before demolition and reconstruction works are due to commence.

Note the old MET-style signage - due to the rebuilding works, Kananook was never metlinked.
20th Oct 2006Brighton Beach - Works Completed
Some shots of the completed service facility at Brighton Beach Station; supposedly built for the purposes of installing VICERS (vigilance) equipment to the Melbourne Electrified fleet.

The high grey towers allow access to the roof area of the train, whilst the two raised sidings allow simultaneous under-train access. The facility has enough room to work on two six-car trains at any one time.

Note that the platform 1 road is now out of service, and partly paved over - but this can be reversed at a future time with some quick removal of ashphalt and dismantling of the towers.

Shots feature a six car X'Trapolois train stabled in 3 road - one of the few times (if not the only time) that an X'Trap has run on the Sandringham line.

2nd Jul 2006Lyndhurst Cement Sidings
Shots in and around the Lyndhurst cement siding on the Cranbourne line.

These shots might suit someone looking to model the cement works, and there's some detail shots of the cement wagons too.

There's also a shot of the mound of earth that is the former Lyndhurst goods platform.

21st Jun 2006Brighton Beach Sidings Works
A quick trip to see the recent alterations work at Brighton Beach Station's sidings, inspired by a recent Railpage Australia forum thread.

Rumour has it that some sort of temporary servicing or maintence facility will be built here - see http://www.railpage.com.au/f-t11319061-s0.htm for much rumour and speculation....
